GENERAL

1. What is The Startup Autobahn Singapore FinTech Accelerator about?

The Startup Autobahn Singapore FinTech Accelerator is a co-innovation programme designed to accelerate the adoption and integration of innovative startup solutions in the Daimler Financial Services Africa and Asia Pacific markets (DFS AAP). Centered around four problem statements which have been selected by business heads across 11 different markets, the focus is on bringing together different perspectives, competencies and knowledge from both startups and DFS AAP to co-create solutions that translate into real business results.

In a span of 8 weeks, selected participants will work with business stakeholders to develop a functional prototype that addresses one of these problem statements. At the end of the programme, selected participants will showcase their prototypes and demonstrate its unique value proposition on Demo Day.

2. Tell me more about Daimler Financial Services.

Daimler Financial Services, the financial arm of The Daimler Group, provides an array of services from your classic automotive financing and leasing services to new urban mobility solutions such as such as car-sharing solutions in 40 markets across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

3. Why should I participate in this programme?

PROBLEM STATEMENTS

What are the problem statements?

Selected and prioritized by Daimler Financial Services’ business heads, we are looking for both FinTech and non-FinTech solutions that can address the following problem statements:

1. How can we adopt new ways of identifying prospective customers using external data, and enrich and do more with the existing data we capture about prospective customers?


We are looking for innovative solutions that can help us identify new leads, and qualify and enrich prospect data.

2. How might we better educate new customers about Daimler Financial Services products and guide them through the process of selecting and applying for the right product for their needs?

We are looking for innovative solutions that can support our potential customers during discovery and research and provide targeted guidance.

3. How might we better address queries from existing customers across product information to processes?

We are looking for innovative solutions that can support our customers’ queries in a timely, proactive and personalized manner.

4. How might we adopt non-traditional methods to authenticate a customer’s identity, through the online and traditional channels, during their purchase journey?

We are looking for innovative solutions which can confirm the customer is indeed who they claim to be.

APPLICATION

1. Who should apply?

You are an established start-up and meet the following criteria:

  • Your team have lots of passion, energy and drive
  • Have an existing product/solution that can address our problem statementYou have dedicated resources over the duration of the accelerator
    * Fintech and non-fintech startups are welcome to apply

2. Can I submit a proposal for more than one problem statement?

Yes, you can. Just convince us you can do it.

3. I have participated in other accelerators, can I still apply?

Yes you can. We will evaluate it on a case-by-case basis.

You are also welcome to apply even if you have received funding from other financial institutions. If you are unsure about the sensitivities of being funded by competing institutions, please reach out to us so we can advise you accordingly.

4. How many finalists will be selected?

We will select up to 8 startups for the 8-week programme.

DATES & LOCATION

1. What are your key milestones for the Accelerator? (subject to changes)

  • Application period:  5 Apr to 16 Apr(extended till 28 Apr) 2017
  • Pitch Days (for shortlisted applicants) and Final Selection: 8th May to 12th May 2017
  • On-boarding (for finalists) and development of POC: 15th May to 7th July 2017
  • Demo Day: Tentatively on 10th July 2017

2. What is the commitment level required for the Accelerator?


Selected participants must commit to the development and showcase of prototypes that address the problem statement within the stipulated timeframe. They are expected to at minimum:

  • Attend weekly sync-ups with the Accelerator team and the business unit stakeholders assigned to the project
  • Assign one lead as the main point of contact throughout the programme
  • Be present in Singapore during the first two weeks of onboarding
  • Be present in Singapore during the last three weeks leading up to Demo Day as this is an extremely critical period

We understand that you may have made prior arrangements for client engagement or conference participation within the programme  period. Should this be the case, please speak to us early so we can work together to find workarounds.

3. Where will participants be based throughout the program?

If you are based in Singapore, you are welcome to use the space at BASH @ Block 79 JTC Launchpad throughout the duration of the 8-week program.

If you are based outside Singapore, we can look into it on a case by case basis.

If you are required to travel out of Singapore for other engagements, please let us know in advance so we can arrange for necessary workarounds.

We are looking for innovative solutions that can support our customers’ queries in a timely, proactive and personalized manner.

FUNDING

1. Will participants be paid for developing the prototype during the 12-week period?

Daimler Financial Services will cover costs directly associated with the development of the prototype. Exact details will be finalized with each participant after the selection process as this can vary depending on scope and complexity of each prototype.

For relocation matters such as travel, visa, accommodation and stipend, assistance will be provided by Daimler Financial Servicess. This will be discussed and finalized with each participant after the selection process.

2. Will Daimler Financial Services take up any equity or invest in participating startups?

Daimler Financial Services will not be taking up any equity or investing in the participating startups. The main aim of this Accelerator is to drive the corporate adoption and integration of your proposed solution.

DEMO DAY & POST-PROGRAM

1. What is Demo Day about?

This is the Finale of the program where finalists will present their solution to a panel of business unit owners and senior executives. This is your chance to secure the support for the next phase of pilot and deployment of your solution.

2. What happens beyond the Accelerator?


The work continues! To reiterate, this program is wholly focused on enabling co-innovation between startup participants and Daimler Financial Services to prototype solutions that solve actual, pressing needs. This program provides a real opportunity to secure a business partnership with us and transit seamlessly into the actual pilot and implementation stage.

3. If I am selected to participate in this Accelerator, will my prototype remain as the intellectual property of my startup after Demo Day?

Yes, the solution prototype you create remains yours. Participating in this program does not mean you are legally bound to Daimler Financial Services in any way. The purpose of this program is to give you the opportunity to build a solution that is relevant to the automotive financial services sector and provide you with the support to scale your solution.
